Transportation Center and Central Kitchen | Bethel School District
Pre-engineered metal buildings house a Transportation Center – including bus washing/fueling and six bus-repair bays, a Central Kitchen serving all schools in the Bethel School District, and multifunctional space. Originally designed as a third building, break room functions and multi-function space were relocated to a second floor, above the Transportation Center. Multiple buildings give this facility, located on a 20-acre site, a campus-like feel, including a green space that serves as the campus hub.
The Design-Build team made programmatic design and campus layout a critical factor. In addition, the design-build approach kept the project within budget.
The Transportation Center and Central Kitchen was the first K-12 Design-Build project in the state of Washington.
