Hainline was retained as Construction Manager (CM) for the Alderwood Water & Wastewater District (AWWD) for the Highway 99 water main replacement project. The work consisted of replacement of 29,000 LF of existing 12” steel spunstrand and cast iron water main with 12” and 16” ductile iron water main on Highway 99 from SR-525 through Airport Road in the North Lynnwood/South Everett area.
The project included four micro tunnels utilizing 36” casing and a multitude of utilities that were potholed for coordination. To minimize impact to the surrounding urban neighborhoods and businesses, the work involved the use of well-coordinated traffic control plans and public notices. The project executed WSDOT 2010 specifications furnished by Snohomish County, AWWD, and the City of Everett. The work was bid using six schedules. Hainline provided water sampling when the new water mains were brought online and appurtenance as-built information.
The work acommodated a future WSDOT sidewalk and drainage project and involved light side completion within right aways and sidewalks. Hainline worked alongside Mayes Testing Engineers, EnviroIssues, and Staheli Trenchless Consultants to provide all field inspections, special inspections, and CM/administrative services. Hainline also provided project management and interfacing with the general contractor, WSDOT, and utility stakeholders. The coordination effort involved an intricate switch from existing water mains to the new system. The project was completed on time, within budget, and without claims.
